Township Treasurer’s Statutory Duties

Collects real and personal property taxes
Keeps an account of township receipts (revenues) and expenditures
Issues township checks
Deposits township revenues in approved depositories
Invests township funds in approved investment vehicles
Collects delinquent personal property tax
Responsible for jeopardy assessments in collecting property tax
Collects mobile home specific tax
Must appoint a deputy
Must post a surety bond

 

Property Tax Payments

Summer 2011 property tax bills were due September 14, 2011 and are now past due.  Penalties are added to unpaid balances, starting 9-15-11.  Please call 517-647-2075 for payoff amounts.

 

Winter 2011 tax bills will be mailed approximately December 1, 2011 and are due February 14, 2012.

  

If you owe Portland Township for Personal Property taxes, these taxes are always paid to the Township (your tax parcel number will start with either 34-140-898 or 34-140-900).  Contact Leanne at 517-647-2075 for payoff amounts
